The Amateur Traveler - Dan Morrison is a former Newsday contributor and a writer covering a variety of Middle Eastern and US topics. He's written his first book about a trip he took up the Nile from its roots in Lake Victoria to Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea. His account is more a summary of the results of political upheaval rather than just a simple trek through the country. Morrison writes expressively of his meetings with the people and cultures of the Sudan and Uganda, and finally Egypt.
